How To Correctly Identify Whether Plain Bearings Are Damaged

When we use plain bearings, we often find that the plain bearings are different from the original ones. Let's see why now.

Plain bearings will produce friction due to the contact between the journal and the bearing bush during work, resulting in surface heating, wear, and even "seizure". Therefore, when designing bearings, plain bearings materials with good anti-friction properties should be used to manufacture bearing bushes, and suitable lubricants And adopt a suitable supply method, improve the structure of the bearing to obtain thick film lubrication, etc.

  1. The surface of the journal is strained: there are iron-based cutting abrasive particles or black oxide particles in the ferrogram, and there is a tempering color on the metal surface.

  2. Bearing wear: Due to the metal characteristics of the plain bearings shaft (high hardness, poor yield) and other reasons, it is easy to cause adhesive wear, abrasive wear, fatigue wear, fretting wear, and other conditions.

  3. Corrosion of tile surface: Spectral analysis found that the concentration of non-ferrous metal elements was abnormal; many sub-micron wear particles of non-ferrous metal components appeared in the spectrum; the moisture content and acid value of lubricating oil exceeded the standard.

  4. Fretting wear on the tile back: Spectral analysis found that the concentration of iron was abnormal. In the ferrogram, there were many submicron wear particles of iron components, and the moisture and acid values of lubricating oil were abnormal.

  5. Bearing burning pads: There are many large-sized alloy abrasive grains and ferrous metal oxides in the plain bearings ferrogram.

  6. Tile surface peeling: Much large-sized fatigue spalling alloy wear particles and layered abrasive particles were found in the ferrogram.

  7. Bearing surface strain: cutting abrasive grains are found in the ferrogram, and the abrasive grains of plain bearings are composed of non-ferrous metals.

  8. Surface corrosion of the journal: Spectral analysis found that the concentration of iron was abnormal. There were many submicron particles of iron in the ferrogram, and the moisture or acid value of the plain bearings lubricating oil exceeded the standard.
